Hello everyone! Long time no talk! The reason for this is because I have been in Florida! My mom and I went to Anna Maria Island for my 16th birthday! If you don't know where Anna Maria Island is, it is about an hour away from Tampa, and just across a bridge from Bradenton and Cortez. We had such an amazing time, and I took sooo many photos. So I decided I'd share a few with you all and talk about them! I took this after we had just taken off.. as you can see, the Midwest is pretty boring and dead, so I was super excited to be going somewhere new and exciting. In case you wanted to know specifically where this is, it's just about 5 minutes away from Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. Here's the first photo I took when we arrived at the beach! Our flight landed at like, 8:00pm, so this was taken the next day. The time change had me really messed up for a couple days, but I eventually got used to it. Here's an awkward photo of my legs before getting horribly sun burnt..LOL. Hot dogs or legs? The sunsets in Florida were absolutely STUNNING. The photo couldn't even capture the beauty of it. What was really cool was that I actually took this while eating dinner. On the beach. At a restaurant. I know you might not think that's super cool, but it was to me. There were so many great restaurants on the island where you could eat right there on the beach and watch the sunset. Here's a better photo to show one of the beach resturants. Side note: the burger was really good. Just thought I'd throw that in there. I decided to take a selfie while waiting for the trolley come to bring us to this market that was on another beach that was a little too far to walk to. I got like, 3 people honking at me waving while I took this. It was really cool. I love how friendly and outgoing everyone was in Florida. Birthday breakfast! This was the coolest French toast I've ever seen! It was French toast dipped in Pina Colada batter, and has pineapple and coconut on top. They called it Island French toast. I wish they had this here, because it was amazing. Here's me trying to look like a model on the beach.. LOL. My mom got me a strawberry virgin margarita at this beach bar on my birthday. It was AMAZING. I've always loved virgin margaritas, but I've never found anywhere here in Illinois where you can get them. So I was happy to have one in Florida. Cute little shells I found.. On the last night there, we went to another beach restaurant, and I got coconut shrimp. For those of you who don't know (which is probably all of you), coconut shrimp is my all time favorite food. It's thebomb.com (yes, I just said that). But it was amazing. Last but not least, I took a selfie before getting on the plane to go home.
Thank you all so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed seeing a small portion of my photos from Florida! If you'd like to see more, there are some posted on my Instagram account, @emmalacroix. Talk to you all again soon! -Emma

Hello everyone! Since a new semester has just started, I thought I would share some study tips with you all! These are all things that I do that really help me stay motivated to study, and more importantly- get good grades.
Tip #1: Turn off distractions
It's important to turn off your T.V, cell phone, radio, and to study in a quiet space where you won't be bothered while studying. If you don't want to turn off your phone completly, put it on do not disturb and put it somewhere out of sight. Those text messages can wait until later! Tip #2: Take frequent breaks Studying for 15-30 minutes at a time with 10 minute breaks in between is the most effective way of studying. You'll be much more focused and motivated to study, and you will memorize information much easier. Just make sure to use your break time wisely. For example, instead of watching a show on Netflix, eat a snack and check social media. If you sit down and start watching Pretty Little Liars, you know you won't be getting back to studying anytime soon. Tip #3: Make colorful notes Using colorful index cards and highlighting topics in different colors has been proven to help you remember things. Index cards are great for memorizing definitions, or you can make up your own questions and quiz youself with them. Tip #4: Reward yourself When I'm studying for a long period of time, I like to reward myself with candy after I finish a certain amount of work. For example, if I have to read 3 chapters in my Science textbook and take notes, I will get a Reece's peanut butter cup after I complete each chapter. It just helps me stay motivated to keep going. (Plus, eating chocolate while studying has been proven to help the brain retain information!) Tip #5: Make a playlist Some people find it hard to concentrate when it's completly silent. The perfect solution to this is making a study playlist on Spotify. You can either make your own, or listen to one of Spotify's premade playlists. I listen to "Intense Studying". You wouldn't believe how much it helps me concentrate. If you're making your own playlist, just make sure they are non-lyrical songs. Those will just distract you even more. I hope you all enjoyed this post! Let me know in the comments what helps you study! -Emma 1. What is your middle name?
